Every year we offer ever man of the rarest and best cultivars of C. solida. Here, as evidence, is a robust violet-flowered selection from the redoubtable Janis Ruksans. The long-spurred, white-mouthed blooms are densely deployed on masses of relatively tall (10-inch) stems. This and most of the following cultivars bloom in mid-April here, doing best in dappled shade and well-drained, humus-rich soil. Modified continental/Mediterranean. Zone 5.
