Crocus chrysanthus ‘Uschak Orange’

The first truly orange snow crocus cultivar, this originated in western Turkey near the town referenced in its name (that would be Uschak — not Orange, which is in central Massachusetts).  It behaves like a wildling in the garden, increasing at a relatively slow pace compared to most Chrysanthus hybrids.  It also blooms very early in the crocus season.  Steppe.  Zone 5.
