Essentially a Cardiocrinum in miniature, this spellbinding lily relative from the western Himalaya sends up 2-foot scapes lined with fragrant soft-pink trumpet flowers in mid-spring. The main bulb dies post-bloom, leaving numerous offsets that will themselves bloom in 3 or 4 years. Plants do best in conditions that mimic the snow-covered winters and dryish summers of its native habitat. Zone 7 (5 in areas with reliable winter snow cover).
